Emily’s journey into occupational therapy is marked by a diverse background and a passion for both healthcare and the outdoors. After completing her undergraduate studies in Health Sciences and Family and Consumer Sciences at the University of Wyoming, she pursued her Doctoral degree in Occupational Therapy (OTD) at the University of North Dakota. During her academic career, Emily distinguished herself as a member of the Phi Theta Epsilon Occupational Therapy Honor Society and earned recognition with an abstract of distinction and a top five poster presentation for her doctoral capstone project.
Emily’s career path is enriched by her varied experiences, including working as a whitewater, backpacking, and fly-fishing guide. This unique combination of roles allowed her to develop strong management skills and a deep appreciation for outdoor activities, which she integrates into her therapeutic approach. Her hands-on experience in schools, from kindergarten through 12th grade, has equipped her with a broad understanding of educational and developmental needs.
During her time at Proactive, Emily completed her Level II fieldwork and collaborated with the team to complete her doctoral capstone experience. This project, focused on an outdoor community-based mental health initiative, reflects her dedication to innovative and evidence-based approaches in occupational therapy.
In her current role, Emily is eager to contribute her skills in patient-centered care, evidence-based practices, and her drive to expand her specialties. Her commitment to improving overall quality of life and well-being is matched by her passion for continual learning.
Outside of work, Emily enjoys spending time with her son and engaging in outdoor activities such as biking, hiking, stock packing horses and llamas, and fishing. Having lived in Pinedale for the past 10 years, Emily is excited to give back to the community she has come to call home. Emily is an active member of the Wyoming Occupational Therapy Association and the American Occupational Therapy Association, further demonstrating her commitment to her profession and ongoing professional development
